Marvin Ranel Winstead

| WINSTEAD, Marvin
Ranel, 88, of Henrico County, Va., went home to his heavenly
father on Monday, September 20, 2010. He was the son of the late
Isaiah and Luna Winstead of Elm City, N.C. He is survived by
his beloved wife of 67 years, Grace Erma Winstead; three sisters,
Mildred Medcalf of Vallejo, Calif., Dorothy Miller of Downsville,
La., Vera Laughter (Joe) of Hendersonville, N.C.; one brother,
Marion Winstead (Tippy) of Elm City, N.C.; three daughters, Lynn
Smith of Center Cross, Va.; Debi Winstead of Chapel Hill, N.C.,
and Marcy Truda (Al) of Glen Allen, Va.; nine grandchildren,
Brandon Smith (Shelley), Adrian Chapman (Roy), Erin Lewis (Nathan),
Carly Chapman (Mike), Lindsay Baker (Jeff), Joseph Truda (Yamina),
Jennifer Kotze (Jean), Jason Truda and Jordan Truda; nine great-grandchildren,
Nathan Smith, Hannah Smith, Lily Chapman, Ella Lewis, Ava Lewis,
Jonah Chapman, Julia Chapman, Grayson Truda, Natalie Truda; and
many beloved extended family members. Marvin was one of 13 children
born and raised on a tobacco farm in Elm City, N.C. He was a
Staff Sergeant in the 8th Air Force 34th bomb group during WWII
and flew 22 missions over Europe as a ball-turret gunner. Marvin
worked in sales all of his adult life. He has been a member of
Welborne United Methodist Church since 1966 and served as President
of the Tuckahoe Lions Club in 1978. The family wishes to thank
the wonderful staff at St. Mary's Hospital, McGuire Veterans
Hospital, and Dr. Gan Dunnington and his staff. You were all
so special to him. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made
to the Missions Fund at Welborne United Methodist Church. All
our lives have been touched by his strength, loving kindness,
and spirit. |
Marvin Ranel Winstead was a brother to the late Wayne Winstead, sister-in-law of
Beth Winstead and Uncle of Pam Winstead Smith, Mark Winstead and Paul Winstead.
